An ode to Scones

‘SULTANA SCONES!’… I’LL try em
( I plonked some in me trolly)
But bet they’re not like grandmas
(me thoughts were melancholy)
I had one for breakfast
And closed me eyes to see
And me taste buds just exploded
And ah went all jittery
I was back in grandmas kitchen
Wi’ a steaming mug o’ brew
Could hear her old heart beating
As she sliced the scone in two
A blob of ‘patted’ butter
Dripped from a boneshaft knife
Twas then that i discovered
The nicest thing in life
So i would like to THANK YOU
For taking me back home
THANK YOU for the memories
From that one delicious
SCONE

Thank you to Mrs Birkett from Doncaster for sending us this lovely poem (And the follow up!)
