The Hot Cross Scone Debate


We’ve waded into the world of food fusions with our new Easter product, Hot Cross Scones, created exclusively for Tesco.

Never before seen in UK supermarkets, a Hot Cross Scone combines the texture of a scone with the festive spices of hot cross buns, all finished with an iconic white cross, hand finished by our bakers.

Nicola Orchard of Tesco says “We expect them to be huge a hit with our customers this Easter. As with traditional scones, you can serve with Cornish cream and a touch of strawberry jam – but the big question is, do you put your jam or cream on first?”

Quite the media frenzy ensued as the product hit the market a week ago, with most customers applauding it as a much needed combo between two of Britain’s best loved bakery products, even being rated ‘5/5 for innovation’ by some critics. This sparked a debate with others, who argued that the new Easter product was ‘going too far’ and that some Easter favourites shouldn’t be tampered with.
