The Mayor of Barnsley visits the Bakery

It was lovely to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Barnsley, Mick and Elaine Stowe last week for a tour around our bakery.

Mayor Mick and Mayoress Elaine met with our Directors Rebecca Padgett and Luke Padgett and were shown the ropes in the packing area, helping to pick and pack some of the scones being shipped out to Germany this week. They also were given a tour of our production areas and learned about the ingredients that go into our products.

Mick and Elaine are themselves both from Barnsley, so are incredibly passionate about championing local businesses. Mick said of the visit, “I first came across Haywood & Padgett because of the good work they’ve done to support local communities and people in Barnsley. Employing 200 local people and being the biggest producer of scones in the world, what an achievement putting Barnsley at the forefront of producing quality food.”
